OUR CLASSROOM COMMUNITY/ MY PHILOSOPHY
I truly value a love of learning. I want all my students to be excited to come into the classroom. I plan on doing this by letting students know that it is okay to be themselves, and to have student choice in work and activities. Students will complete a great amount of group work with a strong focus on balanced literacy. In addition, students will explore and inquire, while constantly challenging themselves, wondering, and predicting.
Furthermore, I think that the look on a student’s face when they finally understand a concept they have been struggling with is irreplaceable. I want students to always feel rewarded as they learn, and will do this by letting them know that their creativity and success is not just something expected, but something special that they should be proud of. I think reflecting on one’s own work is a crucial point I will have in my classroom, so that student’s are reminded of how much they are achieving while setting goals for the future. I believe that together, we can meet our end goal: to have every child be constantly challenged, engaged, while also instilling a deep love of learning.
